You Can Recover From A Motorcycle Accident

The result of a motorcycle accident can be catastrophic. Motorcycle riders are far more vulnerable than people in cars, and they are thus far more likely to be injured or killed in a crash.

At Russell & Ireland Law Group, LLC, we help people who have been hurt in a motorcycle accident, along with their families, receive fair compensation for injuries caused by other drivers. Many motorcycle accidents are caused by distracted drivers who do not see the motorcyclists sharing the road with them. With the ever-growing use and dependency on smartphones by drivers, riders are at even a greater risk than before.

Motorcycle accidents often result in the rider being thrown from the bike and can lead to serious head injuries, including concussions and other traumatic brain injuries. While wearing a helmet can help prevent such injuries, even motorcyclists who take all necessary precautions can still be tragically injured by negligent drivers.

Do You Have To Wear A Helmet?

For most experienced adults, the answer is “no” in both Kentucky and Ohio. However, you do still need to wear a helmet if:

  • You are under 21 (Kentucky) or under 18 (Ohio)
  • You have held your motorcycle license for less than a year

Of course, even if it is not illegal for you to ride without a helmet, it is always a good idea to do so. In addition to significantly reducing the risk of a serious head injury in an accident, a brightly colored helmet can make it easier for motorists to see you on the road.
